WISH GRANTING GUIDELINESFairygodmother Foundation grants wishes without bias towards gender, race, religion, socioeconomic status, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, disability, or nature of illness. In addition, the following restrictions, limitations, and guidelines apply. The wish recipient must be an adult with a terminal illness. We define “adult" as 18 years of age or older. We define “terminal" as having less than one year to live. A medical form verifying the health status of the wish recipient must be completed by the treating physician. The wish must be from the wish recipient. The wish recipient must be able to communicate the wish and must be able to comprehend the wish experience. It must be the wish of the recipient. The wish must not be a surprise. Fairygodmother Foundation does not participate in surprises. We do not want to risk violating the privacy of the wish recipient. The wish must be the wish recipient’s one and only wish. The wish recipient must not have had a wish granted by any other wish-granting organization previously, and must not be currently working with another wish-granting organization. All participants of the wish must be immediate family members to the wish recipient. Fairygodmother Foundation defines "immediate family" as spouse or significant other and children under the age of 18 living in the same household; or mother, father, and siblings (brothers and sisters) under the age of 18 living in the same household. The wish must be safe. The nature of the wish must not present any danger to the wish recipient or any sponsored participants. This includes travel wishes that may be detrimental to one’s health. The wish must be legal. The wish must not violate any laws. Travel wishes must take place within the continental United States. Fairygodmother Foundation cannot grant wishes for foreign travel, or for travel to Alaska, Hawaii, or Puerto Rico. Travel wishes will not be all-inclusive. You are responsible for your own spending money to cover such things as gas, souvenirs, tips, most meals, and any other incidentals. The wish cannot be for cash, cars, RV rentals, real estate, home improvement, or assistance to pay bills (including but not limited to medical expenses and prearranged travel). Fairygodmother Foundation does not cover any medical expenses or prescriptions, including but not limited to prescription oxygen. All wishes are subject to approval by Fairygodmother Foundation.
